The season is upon us! The incredible daily summer heat has backed off and the temperature is absolutely lovely, it sure was a hot one! Driving up the hill yesterday I spotted The Buccaneer Club restaurant open for business after their summer break, that is always a sure sign that life in Governors is returning to normal, and it is wonderful to have a local institution just a minutes’ walk from the property.

A couple of months ago, we received a 40 foot container full of furnishings and décor items, and we embarked on a revamp and upgrade process to all the properties. For those that have stayed at Squires previously, you would know how incredibly special and authentic the homes are, but as with everything, over time and with wear and tear, things begin looking a little tired! Well no longer. Returning guests will be pleasantly shocked to see how the revamp has uplifted all the houses, and we now have a bouquet that offers the highest standards and modern luxuries while maintaining the timeless charm of colonial Bahamas.

After 4 hours in the blazing heat our container was finally empty! What a relief to have it all unpacked.

Finally it’s empty!

We also tackled some larger projects during the slow summer season, and Toad Hall has benefited from an entirely new roof, inside and out! Looking decidedly sharp.

Modern House received a new set of furniture which has transformed the living area into something truly special. Lots of lovely blues and greens remind one of the beautiful Caribbean colors of the ocean outside.

Lastly, we finally got to use our new tent for a beautiful wedding that was held at Squires in November. The venue has turned out fantastically, and we are thrilled with the result. The position overlooking the ocean is spectacular, to say the least, with the sun setting across the bay.

Well that’s all for now, we look forward to welcoming back old friends and also to making new ones over the coming months. One things for sure, its better in the Bahamas!
